He had a fascination with the cloud piercing skyscrapers of the mega cities ever since he was a child. Even more so the mysterious sky portals that adorned a select few of them. The Holy and Magnificent Monks of Prosperity & Business were popularised in popular media but his enquiries regarding them to his parents and family were always dismissed. 'That life is not for people like us' they would say and things of that nature This fascination grew to obsession during his teenage years as he ran errands through the business district. He could often be seen staring upwards as if in a trance, lost in his thoughts.

The monks of the skyscrapers were elusive characters but they could be identified when out at lunch and fully robed. They were equally comfortable in robe or suit and could easily be lost in the deluge of denizens of the business district, when suited. He was happy he could dismiss the rumour that once initiated a monk was forbidden to ever set foot on ground level again. He would watch them and try and imitate their mannerisms and movements. Then when one day he decided to take the plunge; entering the foyer of Central Skyscraper to offer up his service.
